Gym owner Peter San Nicolas of San Diego County has been charged with five misdemeanors for refusing to close the doors of his gym. Each of these charges is punishable with a fine up to $1000 and six months in jail.
Earlier this week San Nicolas hosted a meeting outside of the Ramona Fitness Center where he and other business owners had the opportunity to express their concerns and frustrations related to the government mandated shutdowns.
In his announcement of the town hall style meeting, San Nicolas said, “I just got news from another business owner that the COVID police are making their rounds and they came and shut them down. They treated them like common criminals.” Many of those who spoke at the meeting described having to permanently close their doors because of government-imposed COVID-19 lockdowns.
San Nicolas has started a GoFundMe page for the California Constitutional Rights Foundation, a legal group that will be providing legal assistance to those who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19-related mandates, including business owners and those arrested at anti-lockdown protests.
